Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect during our first session?

Our first session is a 90-minute consultation. During this time, we'll have a conversation about your past medical and social history. I'll ask you questions about your routines, schedule, habits, support system, family dynamics and what brings *you* joy. You'll tell me about what's working for you, as well as what isn't working. Some questions might not seem relevant at first, but they'll help guide us in coming up with a holistic and individualized plan just for you. As an occupational therapist, there's no such thing as too much information for me!

After that, we'll come up with a plan. You'll have concrete actionable steps to take by the time our session is over. This won't be homework or more items to add to your to-do list. We'll create your plan together and make sure it's manageable.

This plan might include things such as a customized guided meditation or movement sequence to help calm yourself when the baby won't sleep. We might work through your grocery list or meal plan to help lighten the load in the evenings, especially if you'll be commuting home from work or feeding a toddler as well. We might work together on how to better manage your pumping routine to get your partner involved in night feedings. We might practice hard conversations with family members and figure out who's equipped to support you best. We might even rearrange the nursery or set up diaper changing stations throughout your home to make things easier on your body. If we agree it would be helpful, I may also refer you to a trusted psychotherapist, psychiatrist, lactation consultant or pelvic floor therapist.

I'm here to solve problems with you no matter how big or small. Follow-up sessions are 60 minutes and we'll continue focusing on where you need support the most at *that* time.

Where do sessions take place?

Sessions take place in your home. This allows me to create a plan tailored to your environment. It also allows you to stay put - there's no need to get the baby ready or pack a diaper bag! Not comfortable with me coming to your home? No problem. I'm happy to meet virtually as well.

Do you accept health insurance?

All services provided are fee-for-service.  I accept cash, check, Zelle, or Venmo. I do not currently accept insurance as this allows us to spend more time together. A bill can be provided for each session for possible reimbursement from your insurance carrier, depending on your plan. Also check with your insurance company to see if services can be reimbursed through your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA).
